There is a change at this time of year as summer comes and exams bridge a final gap for many between here and holidays.
But when is there not a change coming? It's easy to think we will be able to draw breath after the next one - when we're married or moved or at university or in our next job. But before we know it we're there already and planning for change again.
And even when we seem stationary and feel stuck, we are often looking to find some way of moving forward.
One day we will arrive Home for good. And it will be perfect.
In the meantime, changes may take us to better places but not permanent ones. Yet we already carry something of our ultimate arrival within. We are already citizens of our final destination.
Joy Forney has just moved countries and she says:
"And yes, it feels different and sometimes hard, but it already feels like HOME. Because walking with Jesus in the everyday moments of life is the same, no matter where your feet land."
And so isn't each day at its simplest a new opportunity to walk in the everyday dirt as Jesus' friend? Whether that is facing change, going through it, desperately needing or wanting it.
